Meet our Camp Director

Maddie Cook
Camp Director

My name is Maddie Cook and I am the director of Camp Weloki. I am a past camper and counselor at Camp Weloki and love being a part of this amazing organization!

I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from St. Louis University and am working on a Masters in Social Work from Washington University- in St. Louis. I was a teacher for the past 3 years at the Wilson School and for a year at Eagle Charter School.

The best part about working at Camp Weloki is getting to watch the girls grow and be themselves. Camp Weloki has changed so many girls lives and am honored to be the camp director. I love working with girls of all ages and am so thankful to get to know each and every girl who comes to Camp Weloki.

I am eager to serve you by answering any questions you have about Camp Weloki. Please feel encouraged to email me at director@campweloki.com or call my office at (636) 530-1883 with questions you may have about our camps. I am happy to give you the answers you need!

Counselors & Staff

We are very proud of our Camp Weloki staff and all the wonderful energy and loving compassion they bring to our campers.  Many of our staff who return year after year were once former campers themselves before they were picked to become part of our staff.  They are always exceptional people with many skills and talents to share and are exceptionally committed to children and their well-being.

We have college students, teachers and business people that share in the missions of Camp Weloki and help each summer at our camp sessions.

All staff are:

  • screened with criminal background checks
  • have personal interviews with our Director
  • attend staff retreats each year and are encouraged to work on their own personal growth
  • mixed age groups from 21-50 years old
  • Counselors in training are high school campers that go through a highly selective training process

Our staff are essential in helping the children and teenagers feel connected and special while creating a fun atmosphere in which to learn and grow. All of our staff contain the natural ability to engage every camper and to bring out the best in them.  They work tirelessly from sun up to lights out to be sure every camper has the best week of their lives.  Because of their commitment and the way they treat campers, many of our campers come back year after year and want to become part of our staff when they are mature enough.
