Meet our Camp Director

Anne Walkenhorst
Camp Director

My name is Anne Walkenhorst and I am the director of Camp Weloki. I am a past counselor at Camp Weloki and now that I have two teenage daughters of my own, it’s been very rewarding to see them experience Weloki for themselves.

I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri- Kansas City, and a Masters in School Counseling from Lindenwood University. I was a school counselor at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School and have also worked at Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The best part about working at Camp Weloki is seeing the impact that this camp has on girls. I cannot think of another place that creates a fun, inclusive environment where girls can learn leadership, communication, responsibility, and healthy ways to handle life’s challenges. I enjoy working with girls of all ages and I am so happy to be part of the Camp Weloki community!

I am eager to serve you by answering any questions you have about Camp Weloki. Please feel encouraged to email me at or call my office at (636) 530-1883 with questions you may have about our camps. I am happy to give you the answers you need!

Counselors & Staff

We are very proud of our Camp Weloki staff and all the wonderful energy and loving compassion they bring to our campers.  Many of our staff who return year after year were once former campers themselves before they were picked to become part of our staff.  They are always exceptional people with many skills and talents to share and are exceptionally committed to children and their well-being.

We have college students, teachers and business people that share in the missions of Camp Weloki and help each summer at our camp sessions.

All staff are:

  • screened with criminal background checks
  • have personal interviews with our Director
  • attend staff retreats each year and are encouraged to work on their own personal growth
  • mixed age groups from 21-50 years old
  • Counselors in training are high school campers that go through a highly selective training process

Our staff are essential in helping the children and teenagers feel connected and special while creating a fun atmosphere in which to learn and grow. All of our staff contain the natural ability to engage every camper and to bring out the best in them.  They work tirelessly from sun up to lights out to be sure every camper has the best week of their lives.  Because of their commitment and the way they treat campers, many of our campers come back year after year and want to become part of our staff when they are mature enough.
